Employment Law Conference 2010
CPD: 4.5 hours (Other)

Date: Thursday 16th September
Location: Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, Dunblane
Registration: 9.15am
Seminar: 9.45am - 4.30pm

This year’s annual Employment Law Conference will cover a range of topics where there have been recent significant developments. It is also a timely opportunity for practitioners to learn about the important updates to Employment Law in the new Equality Act.

Any practitioner who has had to try and reconcile the various strands of anti-discrimination protection in this country will need no persuasion as to the value of consolidating all such measures in one, single Equality Act. It would, though, be naïve to assume that with consolidation will come simplicity.

The consolidation also applies to the Equal Pay Act and so we will look at this in more detail as claims from both the public sector and private sector, become increasingly common.

Other topics which will be covered include:

Industrial Relations - the latest interpretation of the complex statutory provisions which govern industrial action
Constructive Dismissal Claims - re-examination of certain principles that had been considered well-settled
Employment Tribunal Procedure
The conference will be chaired by Stephen Miller, partner at MacRoberts and Law Society accredited specialist in Employment Law.
