Murray and Flanagan installed for 2004-05

Report of installation of new President and Vice President

Duncan Murray and Caroline Flanagan took up office respectively as President and Vice President of the Society at the May Council meeting.

Duncan Murray, a partner and accredited employment law specialist with Morton Fraser, Edinburgh, spoke of his pride and deep sense of responsibility as he received the presidential chain. “I will be pleased to reach even the foothills of Joe Platt’s presentation ability”, he said. “Joe has done so much to maximise the Society’s presence across Scotland.”

His own talent, he added, was not for long-term stargazing but the here and now. In addition to the Clementi review, issues including eductation and training, multi-jurisdictional practices, automated registration of title, legal aid and the Master Policy will all demand attention.

Caroline Flanagan, a partner and accredited family law specialist with Ross & Connel, Dunfermline, said: “It is a great honour to be given the opportunity to represent the solicitors’ profession as Vice-President of the Society and I very much look forward to working with Duncan Murray to ensure that the challenges of the coming year are met in the best interests of clients and the profession.”
