A reminder about key changes in fees and certificates that took effect on 22 January, and other matters
The new Fee Order provides a simplified scale of charges. The full range of fees was published in Registers Update 18.1, which can be viewed at www.ros.gov.uk/updates . A full listing of all our fees can be found at www.ros.gov.uk/fees
If your firm has not already done so, you may wish to consider paying your registration fees through variable direct debit. This method of payment significantly reduces the costs incurred, by avoiding applications being returned due to incorrect fees. It also ensures that applications are taken on the day of receipt. The payment of registration fees by variable direct debit will be mandatory for applications submitted through Automated Registration of Title to Land (ARTL). Many firms are already benefiting from this service.
Land and charge certificates
Land certificates will now only be issued in the case of an application for first registration, a transfer of a registered title and a transfer of part of a registered title.
Charge certificates will be issued following the registration of a standard security. Where any other deed affecting the standard security is registered, the charge certificate will not be updated to include that deed.
No substitute certificates of title will be issued. If you wish a copy of a title sheet for your use, please order an office copy.
Land and charge certificates should not be submitted with applications for registration and we will no longer be returning any such certificates that are submitted.
Details of the changes to the processing of land and charge certificates were published in Registers Update 9.1, which can be viewed at www.ros.gov.uk/updates
The new application forms and eForms system are in place. Increased levels of password security have been introduced. If you would like more guidance and training on the use of eForms, please visit our website at www.ros.gov.uk/eforms/training.html
