Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

ALLAN BLACK & McCASKIE, ELGIN announce the retiral of their senior partner, Barbara Lock, and the promotion of Iain Maltman to partner and Jaymie Strathdee to associate.

BLACK HAY, Ayr and Prestwick, are pleased to announce the appointment of Maggie Macinnes as an assistant solicitor with effect from 4 January 2017. Maggie will be based in the firm’s Ayr office.

BRODIES LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has announced three partner lateral hires who will join the firm later this year. Heather Thompson, a trust and tax specialist, joins on 3 April from TURCAN CONNELL and will be based in Brodies’ Edinburgh office; Drysdale Graham, who specialises in social and economic infrastructure projects, moves to the Edinburgh office on 1 May from PINSENT MASONS; and Chris Dun, a specialist in investment and development property finance, joins from MACLAY MURRAY & SPENS in the summer, to be based in Brodies’ Glasgow office.

J D CLARK & ALLAN LTD, Duns, announces that Amy Dickson has been promoted to director.

DALLAS McMILLAN SOLICITORS, Glasgow, are pleased to announce that Christina Wason has been promoted to associate with effect from 1 January 2017.

FLEXLAW SOLICITORS, Edinburgh, announce that with effect from 1 March 2017 their new office address will be CBC House, 24 Canning Street, Edinburgh EH3 8EG. Telephone and fax numbers and email addresses remain the same. Separately they announce the departure of former consultant solicitor Lyall Moodie from the firm with immediate effect.

GIBSON KERR, Edinburgh announces its merger with GRANGE SOLICITORS & ESTATE AGENTS, Edinburgh. Grange’s principal, Gregor Mair will continue in the merged firm as a consultant solicitor, based in its Dundas Street offices.

GILSON GRAY LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, announces the appointment of Donna Kelly-Gilmour as a real estate partner in its Glasgow office. She joins from BRODIES.

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and North Berwick, intimates that, with effect from 14 February 2017, Caroline Louden is no longer a partner of the firm.

MACDONALD HENDERSON, Glasgow, has promoted Maureen Matheson, who leads the firm’s private client team, to director of the firm with effect from 16 January 2017.

THE McKINSTRY COMPANY, solicitors, Ayr, is pleased to announce the appointment from 16 January 2017 of Frances Evans as a partner with primary responsibility for corporate and commercial work. Formerly a partner at THE COMMERCIAL LAW PRACTICE, Aberdeen, Frances will be located at the office at Queens Court House, 39 Sandgate, Ayr KA7 1BE.

MACLAY MURRAY & SPENS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London, has announced the appointment of two partners: Aberdeen corporate lawyer Gordon Hobkirk, who rejoins from BOND DICKINSON, and Edinburgh-based projects and infrastructure lawyer Andrew Orr, who has worked independently since leaving MACROBERTS as a partner last June.

MIDDLETON ROSS & ARNOT, Dingwall and Alness, announces that it has promoted Fiona Elizabeth Fraser to be an associate of the firm with effect from 1 January 2017.
