Family firm stands on its record
In association with Lindsay Burns & Co: a firm that can offer a full range of services without involving third parties
Lindsay Burns & Company is a family-run firm of auctioneers and valuers with more than 50 years of knowledge and experience in handling the sale of antiques, fine art, collectables and general chattels. This year, the company is celebrating 35 years in business, marking it out as one of Scotland’s oldest independent firms of auctioneers and valuers.
Lindsay Burns & Company provides a prompt, confidential and competitively priced valuation service tailored to meet the requirements of our clients, whether they are solicitors, executors, private individuals or other professional advisers. Our valuations are presented in a clear, concise and professionally bound document with supporting images where required. We prepare the following types of valuation: inheritance tax/probate valuations, sale valuations, insurance valuations, family division, and willing buyer-willing seller valuations.
We also have a complete house clearance service which includes valuation, inventory, removal of valuable items to auction, clearance and disposal of unsaleable items, storage and distribution of items to beneficiaries.
Our auctions are well developed with the use of state-of-the-art technology, allowing us to present lots to the widest possible audience through our live internet bidding platform while retaining the traditional values of auctioneering.
Nick Burns, Managing Director, has unearthed some remarkable lots to date that include:
- a Chinese blue-and-white mark and period porcelain vase from the reign of Emperor Daoguang, 1821-1850, which sold for £55,000;
- a collection of six oil paintings by Scottish artist John Maclauchlan Milne RSA (1886-1957), which sold for £90,000;
- and an important collection of 10 Indian Company School watercolours, circa 1800, which sold for in excess of £100,000.
Lindsay Burns & Company is unique in that we undertake all the aspects of valuation, removal, auction sale, clearance and administration without the involvement of any third party, an approach that proves popular with existing clients.
