Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed Michael Currie as a partner in its Corporate and Commercial practice at its Glasgow office. Dual qualified in Scotland and England & Wales, he was previously head of corporate at DALLAS McMILLAN. The firm has also appointed Graeme Ross as business development director.  

ANDERSON STRATHERN, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Haddington, has appointed Sarah McKinlay as a consultant to its Private Client team. She joins from the former HBJ GATELEY, now ADDLESHAW GODDARD. Dual-qualified partner Carole Tomlinson was recently named as head of the team. 

BANNATYNE KIRKWOOD FRANCE & CO, solicitors, Glasgow announce the resignation of Margaret Smillie as a partner with effect from 22 March 2018. 

BTO SOLICITORS, Glasgow and Edinburgh, announces the promotion of Jennifer Whitelaw to partner in the Commercial Property team with effect from 1 April 2018.

DWF LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed partner Ricky Cannon and associate Neale Tosh to the debt recovery and finance litigation practice in its Glasgow office. Both join from BRODIES. 

FLEXLAW SOLICITORS, Edinburgh, are delighted to announce that Claire Maguire has rejoined the firm as a consultant litigation solicitor based in Glasgow.

GILLESPIE MACANDREW, Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow, has promoted three associates to legal director: Eilidh Adams and Lianne Lodge in the Private Client team, where Lianne is also head of the Charities & Third Sector team, and Gillian Wright in the Residential Property team (formerly known as Hunters Residential), where she oversees the Residential Conveyancing team. 

KIPPEN CAMPBELL LLP, Perth, are pleased to announce that Jacqueline Dow (formerly of MACNABS, Perth) joined the firm as a senior associate in the Private Client department as from 19 March 2018. On 9 April 2018, Fiona McNaughton (formerly of BLACKADDERS, Perth) joined the firm as a senior associate in the Conveyancing department. The firm also announces the retirement of Douglas Lamond on 30 April 2018, after 46 years with the firm, latterly as senior partner.

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and North Berwick, is delighted to announce the following promotions with effect from 1 April 2018. In the Edinburgh office, Andrew Boccoli has been promoted to director within the Construction group, Vanessa Beattie has been promoted to senior associate and Sharon Drysdale to associate, all within the Commercial Property team. In the Dundee office (18 Greenmarket), also within the Commercial Property team, Darren Leahy has been promoted to senior associate. Gregor MacEwan has been promoted to associate within the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team based in the firm’s Edinburgh office, and Pamela Dobson has been promoted to associate within the Family team based in Dundee (21 Crichton Street).

Lindsays has also announced the appointment of Jennifer Love as a senior solicitor in its Dispute Resolution & Litigation team in Edinburgh. She moves from STRONACHS, Aberdeen.

LIVINGSTONE BROWN, Glasgow has announced three promotions to director with effect from 1 March: Paul Mullen, deputy practice area head in Criminal Litigation & Inquiries; Kevin Pike, head of the Personal Injury practice unit; and Paul Sturdy, deputy practice area head in both the Child Protection and Employment & Contract teams. In addition, Gurpreet Singh Johal returns to the firm as associate and practice area head for Immigration & Asylum. He previously worked in the department before moving to the public sector.

MACKINTOSH & WYLIE LLP, Kilmarnock and Stewarton, announce the retirement of Robin Campbell Fullarton as senior partner with effect from 31 March 2018. He will continue as a consultant on a part-time basis. Lesley Dowdalls takes over as senior partner.

MACROBERTS, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, has announced that corporate partner Neil Kennedy (right) will succeed John Macmillan as managing partner from 1 May 2018. Mr Macmillan, after his second spell as managing partner, will continue as an employment partner for the firm.

MORTON FRASER, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, announces the appointment of Alan Meek, formerly head of the corporate recovery group at MACROBERTS, as a partner in its Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency team within the firm’s Glasgow office.

MUNRO & NOBLE, Inverness and Aviemore, and GEORGE STREET LAW, Dingwall, have announced their merger. The combined firm will practise as MUNRO & NOBLE, from the merging firms’ existing offices. The Dingwall office will include a new property shop to add to Munro & Noble’s present one in Inverness.

PINSENT MASONS, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and elsewhere, announce that intellectual property and IT specialist David Woods (Glasgow), who is dual qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales, has been promoted to partner with effect from 1 May, one of 23 such promotions across the firm internationally.

POMPHREYS, Wishaw, announce the appointment of Sarah Lynch as a partner with effect from 31 March 2018.

RENFREWSHIRE LAW CENTRE, Paisley, has closed with effect from 30 March 2018, after serving the Renfrewshire area for more than 20 years. 

TAYLOR & HENDERSON, Largs, are pleased to announce that Andrew Blair has been promoted to partner with effect from 1 April 2018.

THORLEY STEPHENSON SSC are delighted to announce that the Civil, Family and Child Law Departments have moved to new premises at 20 Hopetoun Street, Edinburgh, with effect from 19 March 2018. The new office retains the main 0131 556 9599 telephone number. The Criminal Defence Department will continue to operate from 149 Cowgate, Edinburgh, with its current contact details.
