Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed four newly qualified solicitors, Danny Anderson and Jamie Guyan (both Aberdeen), Megan Hannah (Glasgow) and Stevie Kelman (Banchory and Stonehaven), and hired seven new trainees as part of its wider investment programme.

BALFOUR+MANSON LLP, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has appointed medical negligence lawyer Kiera Dargie, as senior associate. She joins from THE MEDICAL PROTECTION SOCIETY where she was medical negligence litigator.

BRODIES LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has unanimously re-elected its chairman, Christine O’Neill, to serve a third consecutive term, a three-year term of office from 1 May 2019.

DWF LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and elsewhere, has appointed Naomi Pryde as partner and head of litigation in Scotland, with effect from 8 January 2019. She joins from DENTONS, London.

HARPER MACLEOD LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Lerwick, has recruited corporate and commercial lawyer Fiona Neilson as a partner in its Inverness office. She joins from LEDINGHAM CHALMERS, where she was a partner.

INKSTERS SOLICITORS, Glasgow and elsewhere, have expanded their Caithness operation into Thurso, with Charlotte Platt joining them to set up an office at 10 Sinclair Street, Thurso, Caithness KW14 7AJ. Dealing with domestic conveyancing and private client work, she joins from D&H (formerly DREVER & HEDDLE).

JAMESON & MACKAY, Perth and Auchterarder, announce the retiral of their senior partner, Brian Marnoch, after some 40 years’ service to the firm, with effect from 31 December 2018. Brian will continue with the firm as a consultant.

MORTON FRASER LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, has appointed Keith Oliver as a consultant to its Private Client team. Currently with ADDLESHAW GODDARD, he will continue working as a consultant with that firm supporting his clients on their business and commercial work.

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT LAW (SCOTLAND) LLP (RTALS), Peebles, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has promoted its associate Jodi Gordon to partner, based in the Edinburgh office.

RTALS has also opened a new office at 1 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 1RW, under the charge of David Adams, who joins as an associate from WATERMANS.

ROONEY NIMMO LTD, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed Grant Docherty as a partner in its UK operations. Based in Edinburgh, he will be responsible for running the Banking team at the firm. He joins from DWF LLP where he was partner and head of the Banking team in Scotland.

THORLEY STEPHENSON LTD, Edinburgh are delighted to announce that James D Keegan QC has joined the firm as a consultant and is available for instruction.

THORNTONS LAW LLP, Dundee and elsewhere, has appointed Andrew Kirkhope as a partner based in its Edinburgh office with effect from 10 December 2018. A specialist in residential conveyancing and estate agency, he joins from LINDSAYS where he was a partner.

TLT LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed Damien Bechelli as a corporate partner in Glasgow. He joins from DWF LLP. 

AC WHITE, solicitors, Ayr are pleased to announce the assumption of Fiona Jane Macdonald as a partner with effect from 1 January 2019. They also announce the retirement from the firm of consultant Thomas Elder Shaw with effect from 31 December 2018.

WRIGHT, JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE LLP has announced a number of internal promotions. Paul Adams (commercial property), JP Campbell (private client and family business) and Alan Bauchop (commercial property) have each been promoted to senior associate; Graham Adams (residential property) has been promoted to legal director; and Karen Crothers (private client), Fiona Kempsell (residential property) and Stephen Grant (corporate) have all been promoted to associate.
