ALLAN McDOUGALL SOLICITORS, Edinburgh, intimate that Stephen Irvine, formerly of MORISONS LLP, has joined the firm as a partner in the Personal Injury team.

BELL & CRAIG, Stirling and Falkirk, announces the retirement of its director Gordon W T Murphy with effect from 9 April 2019. He will remain as a consultant until 31 October 2019.

CMS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, announces the appointment of energy and renewables partner Chris McGarvey, who joined the Glasgow office on 1 May 2019 from PINSENT MASONS.

Independent commercial law firms DAVIDSON CHALMERS, Edinburgh, and KERGAN STEWART have announced their merger from 1 May 2019. The new DAVIDSON CHALMERS STEWART will combine 16 partners and 45 staff, all existing roles being retained in the existing offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Galashiels. Alan Stewart, founding partner of Kergan Stewart, will take up the role of chairman while Andrew Chalmers, founding partner of Davidson Chalmers, becomes managing partner (above).

DICKSON MINTO WS, Edinburgh and London intimates that, with effect from 29 April 2019, Harriet Balloch was assumed as a partner of the firm.

GILDEAS LTD, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has completed the acquisition of FULTON’S, solicitors and estate agents, Glasgow. The existing Gildeas conveyancing practice will merge with Fulton’s, which will continue trading as a separate entity from its offices in Mount Florida and Clarkston. Gildeas will continue to focus on personal injury work and a small number of staff will transfer to Fulton’s.

GILSON GRAY, Glasgow, Edinburgh and North Berwick, has appointed solicitor advocate Ken Lauder, formerly of MORISONS, as a legal director in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team.

HARPER MACLEOD, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Lerwick, has promoted five new partners: Andrew Upton (dispute resolution), Collette Miller and Jill Fryer (public sector and social housing, right), and Scott Milliganand Lorna Davis(employment).

HILL & ROBB, Stirling, announces that director Douglas W Whyte retired at the end of March after 39 years with the firm.

INKSTERS, Glasgow and elsewhere, announces that David Flint has joined the firm as a consultant after retiring as senior partner at MACROBERTS.

AUSTIN LAFFERTY solicitors and estate agents, Glasgow, East Kilbride and Hamilton, announces the promotion to associate of Michelle Orchard in the Giffnock office, Omair Ahmed in East Kilbride and Elaine MacDonald in the Newton Mearns office.

LEDINGHAM CHALMERS, Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Stirling, announces the promotion to partner of Phyllis Garden (private client, Aberdeen) and Linda Tinson (rural land and business, Stirling). Other Aberdeen promotions see Erica Buchan (private client) become a senior associate, and Lois Craig (rural) and Mhari Michie (commercial property) become senior solicitors, along with Emily Horn (rural, Stirling) and Megan Calder (litigation, Edinburgh).

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, has promoted Lynsey Kerr (private client) to partner, Kirsty Cooper (residential property) to director, and Darren Lightfoot (commercial property) to associate. Peter Tweedie (corporate) has been re-elected chairman for another three years, and Susan Law (commercial property) to the board for another two years. The firm also announces that Stuart Rowson ceased to be a partner with effect from 5 April 2019.

MORTON FRASER, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, has appointed Sandra Cassels as a partner, and Julie Scott-Gilroy and Caroline Earnshaw as associates in its Construction team, all from BTO SOLICITORS; Stephen Clark, formerly of MORISONS, as senior associate to its Corporate team; and Catriona MacPhail, who rejoins from STUART & STUART, as a partner in the Private Client team. Stuart McWilliams has been promoted to partner in the Immigration team.

RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE, Aberdeen, Ellon, Stonehaven, Inverurie and Banchory, has announced the retirement of Jennifer A Burnett as a partner with effect from 31 March 2019. She will remain with the firm as a consultant.

SHEPHERD & WEDDERBURN, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London, has appointed Gillian Campbell, who joins from BURNETT & REID, to lead its Private Client team in Aberdeen.

Shepherd & Wedderburn has elected Andrew Blain as its managing partner from 1 May 2019, succeeding Stephen Gibb who is returning to practice as a corporate partner after seven years as managing partner.

The firm has also announced the promotion to partner of Judith Stephenson (property and infrastructure) and Douglas Sinclair (private client and tax); and to legal director of Kirsteen Milne, Euan Murray, George McKinlay and Lesley Proctor (all in property and infrastructure).

TURCAN CONNELL, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, announces the appointment of Gillian Crandles, head of Divorce & Family Law, as its new managing partner, succeeding Ian Clark, who spent seven years in the role. It has also promoted Graeme Gass (tax and succession) and Alistair Rushworth (land and property) to partner.

URQUHARTS, Edinburgh, has appointed Thea Jackson from TURCAN CONNELL as an associate in residential property.

J & G WILSON, Kinross, announces that Jennifer Preston has been appointed as associate with effect from 1 May 2019.
