Joke lands lawyer in hot water
George Wood has been fined £1,500 by the Faculty of Advocates for telling a racist joke at a sheriff's retiral event in Falkirk.
He reportedly made a disparaging reference to the golliwog that used to appear on Robertson's jam jars. His audience was said to have been shocked by the joke.
Mr Wood was reported to the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and then called to a disciplinary hearing. He was fined and received a "severe" written censure.
