Honours shared for profession

Various aspects of legal practice were represented in the new year's honours list published today.

From the public service, Gregor Clark, Scottish Parliamentary Counsel, Scottish Executive, becomes a companion of the Order of the Bath (CB).

Shonaig Macpherson, who stepped down in 2004 as head of solicitors McGrigors in order to pursue interests outside the legal profession and became chair of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, now receives a CBE for services to entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile OBEs for services to the administration of justice in Scotland, are awarded to Lothian and Borders Sheriff John Douglas Allan, and Glasgow solicitor Margaret Scanlan, a member of the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
