Pinsent Masons sees 44% increase in turnover

The turnover of the Scottish branch of law firm Pinsent Masons has gone from £5.2 million to £7.5 million in the last year - an increase of 44%.

The firm, which has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, is aiming for a turnover of £10 million in two years' time, according to managing partner Vincent Connor. The number of fee-earners in Scotland has also increased, from 50 to 70.

The success of the business in Scotland echoes that of the UK firm as a whole, which has seen a 15% increase in its turnover in its first full year as a merged business.

Mr Connor accredited the growth of the firm's Scottish practice to its strengths in construction, technology, and PFI, and recent developments in projects, corporate, employment and health and safety.

In addition, two new partners have been recruited to the firm. Clare Foster will join Pinsent Masons on 1 September from Dundas & Wilson. Her role will be to take forward the development of a project finance practice based in the Edinburgh office.

Kirsty Ayre will join the firm on 28 August and she will be developing the employment team in the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices.

Mr Connor added that Pinsent Masons will be working to develop secondary specialist services, such as advising in the areas of European Union procurement law, competition and state aid law and health and safety laws.
