Solicitor tried to arrange sex with underage girl

A 43-year-old lawyer has admitted a string of indecency offences at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The court heard that Ian Donnelly, 43, who worked for personal injury firm Lloyd Green before resigning, had asked a prostitute to arrange sex with a mother and her 11-year-old daughter.

After meeting the prostitute in the street Donnelly met her again in her home, where he asked her to arrange a threesome for him. She then left the room and returned to find Donnelly committing an indecent act while holding a picture of a young female.

Police officers searched his home in Rutherglen and found indecent images on his computer, including numerous pictures of young girls. The court also heard that Donnelly had sent an indecent, anonymous letter to a former girlfriend.

Donnelly's solicitor Ian Duguid said his client was ashamed of what he had done and was now receiving counselling.

Donnelly pled guilty to two breaches of the peace and possessing indecent images.

Sheriff Alistair Noble placed Donnelly on the sex offenders' register. Sentence was deferred until next month.
