Aberdeen firm marks end of 125th year celebrations

The Aberdeen law firm Paull & Williamsons marked the end of its 125th year celebrations with a reception for more than 400 clients and intermediaries at the Marcliffe Hotel in the city last week.

The firm, which was officially established on 1 January 1881 when James Paull and Alexander Williamson went into partnership, has seen rapid growth in the years since the discovery of oil in the North Sea.

Paull & Williamsons has doubled in size since the early 1980s and now has 30 partners, a staff of more than 200, three city centre locations and an office in Edinburgh.

Chairman Bruce Smith said: “The industry has had a considerable impact on Paull & Williamsons as a firm. The firm capitalised on this market, leading to a period of sustained growth stretching over 25 years. As we enter 2007, we are still enjoying unprecedented growth.”
