Proceedings against Lord Fraser dropped

The Crown Office has confirmed that no proceedings are to be taken against the former Lord Advocate, Lord Fraser of Carmyllie in connection with an incident on board a flight from London to Dundee on 19 December 2006.

Tayside Police arrested Lord Fraser at Dundee airport for an alleged "air rage" offence under the Air Navigation Order 2005, and submitted a report to the procurator fiscal at Dundee. Crown counsel was consulted and instructed that further enquiries should be carried out before any decision was made on possible proceedings.

These have now taken place and after considering all the circumstances, Crown counsel has instructed that no proceedings are to be taken, as there is not enough evidence of an offence having taken place.
