Stuck lift traps three judges
A fire alarm at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday resulted in three judges sharing a confined space for 45 minutes, according to a report in today's Daily Record.
The three - Lords Menzies, Bracadale and O'Grady - evacuated the court after burning toast set off the fire alarm. However, the building's lift broke down and they found themselves trapped inside for 45 minutes, along with two drivers and two attendants.
Evacuation procedures at the High Court involve judges being taken to the sheriff court. The lift got stuck between the second and third floors of the building and a lift engineer was summoned to the rescue.
