Record year on course for Anderson Strathern

Anderson Strathern’s rural property practice is expecting a record year after having been involved in more than £300 million of transactions in rural Scotland.

The transactions cover areas such as the sale and purchase of property, involvement in development options and advice on renewable energy schemes.

Work in this time included the much publicised sale of Dumfries House. Anderson Strathern provided a core team of four legal advisers who planned the structure of the sale over a long period of time.

John Mitchell, a partner in land resources at the firm, said: “We are confident about bringing together suitable multi-disciplinary teams that meet client requirements.

“The majority of transactions involve property work, tax planning, employment advice, planning advice and guidance on  environmental and agricultural legislation. Rural businesses are often more sophisticated and complex than they appear.

“Many rural entities simply do not have access to  this breadth of expertise. Anderson Strathern is committed to  building  long term relationships so that our clients can benefit from  our thorough understanding of their requirements and consistent advice.

“There may be a perception that rural Scotland is not a place where business is being done, or that any work has a narrow focus. This is certainly not our experience.  Business is business, no matter where it is done. ”
