Strong results at Gillespie Macandrew

Edinburgh solicitors Gillespie Macandrew, named Law Firm of the Year at this year's Scottish Legal Awards, have reported bumper results for their 2006-07 financial year.

Revenues were up by over one third at £9.2 million, and profits jumped from £2 million to £2.9 million, a 45% rise.

During the year the firm acquired residential property firm Hunters and this contributed to a doubling of turnover in the sector. Gillespie Macandrew has now acquired five other practices in the last five years and aims to be a one-stop shop underpinned by a range of specialist skills, in the words of managing partner Ian Turnbull.

The firm now has 22 partners and around 150 staff.
