Innovation award for Brian Inkster

Solicitor Brian Inkster has picked up the innovation award at the 2007 Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards for a business initiative he runs in Lerwick.

The award is for OfficeLodge, the Lerwick-based business he operates with his sister Hazel Anderson.

Mr Inkster's firm, Inksters Solicitors, is based in Glasgow, but has a large number of clients in his native Shetland.

OfficeLodge is an apartment that combines office accommodation and fully serviced living accommodation in the centre of Lerwick. Developed as a base for Inksters to meet clients and more effectively deal with business in Shetland, it operates as a distinct business in its own right and is let out to other business travellers to Shetland.

The objective of OfficeLodge was to create a home from home for business travellers. The innovative aspect is its combination of a serviced apartment with an office.

The award was sponsored by British Waterways. Mr Inkster said: "We are delighted that our work in establishing this innovative service for business travellers has been recognised by the most prestigious tourism awards event in the Highlands and Islands."
