"Webby" award for Pinsent Masons
Pinsent Masons has become the first non-US legal site to win the "Best Law Website" award at the Webby Awards, by taking this year's title.
The award was made for OUT-LAW.com, the firm's IT and e-commerce-focused legal service which is edited by Struan Robertson, a legal director in the firm's Glasgow office.
OUT-LAW is a free service which includes a biannual magazine, a weekly email news bulletin and the website at www.out-law.com, offering free information and checklists to help businesses.
Described by the New York Times as "the Oscars of the internet", the Webbys honour excellence on the internet, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile websites. They are judged by a panel which includes Simpsons creator Matt Groening and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Chris Mullen, senior partner at Pinsent Masons, said: "When we launched OUT-LAW eight years ago, it was a bold concept, especially from a law firm. We are thrilled to see that it has gone from strength to strength and remains a leading and unique online resource which sets Pinsent Masons apart from other law firms. The site is hugely popular and it is very gratifying to receive a Webby for what we do."
