Shepherd and Wedderburn partner takes on new role

10 July 2008

The CCTV compliance body CameraWatch has appointed Kenneth Mullen of Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP as a non-executive legal director to its board .

Mr Mullen is a partner in the media and technology team at the London office of the firm and specialises in data protection, privacy and information security, as well as IT procurement and regulation.

Gordon Ferrie, CameraWatch chairman and founder, said: “Kenneth’s reputation as a data protection and privacy compliance expert will enhance CameraWatch’s work in promoting awareness and compliance of camera surveillance in both the private and public sector.”

Mr Mullen added: “Although CCTV is now an accepted feature of daily life for organisations and the public, the fact is that many installations don't match up to even the most basic legal standards and ultimately, fail in their intended purpose.

“I'm really looking forward to having this opportunity to work with CameraWatch and assist them in educating and encouraging CCTV users and operators to adopt best practice when it comes to legal compliance.”
