Promotion for five at Semple Fraser

24 July 2008

Semple Fraser has promoted five of its senior fee-earners.

Dual qualified lawyers Douglas Gourlay, Jonathan Kirkwood and Kirsteen Milne have been promoted to director level, while Nigel Eccles and Kathryn Black are now associates.

Douglas Gourlay, a banking expert in the firm’s finance group, specialises in property finance and has cross-border experience in both commercial property and general corporate banking practice.

Jonathan Kirkwoood trained in London before moving north of the border to work with Semple Fraser’s UK client base. He works with a wide variety of businesses, from larger SMEs right through to public companies and has a particular expertise in corporate real estate.

Kirsteen Milne leads the construction team in Edinburgh and acts for a number of the firm's key clients including Business Homes and the Unite Group plc. She joined the firm as a trainee and now advises developers and consultants on all aspects of highly specialist construction work.

Nigel Eccles and Kathryn Black, senior solicitors in the Glasgow property group, are heavily involved in advising clients on shopping centre management – a specialist area for Semple Fraser.

Managing partner Alister Fraser said: “The development of a first rate professional service firm ultimately comes down to the development of people, and that is a long term game. I am delighted that we are able to promote these highly skilled commercial lawyers.”
