Sheriff Kenneth Ross appointed in place of Sheriff Douglas Allan

Sheriff Kenneth Ross has been apppointed as a member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.

Sheriff Ross will replace Sheriff Douglas Allan, whose term of office ends this month. He will serve a three year term.

Sheriff Ross qualified as a solicitor in 1973 and is a former President of the Law Society of Scotland. He became a temporary sheriff in 1987 and a sheriff in 1997. He currently sits in the Sheriffdom of South Strathclyde Dumfries and Galloway at Dumfries.

The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland has five legal members (a judge, sheriff principal, sheriff, an advocate and a solicitor), and five lay members including a lay chairman.
