More money for domestic abuse court
The specialist domestic abuse court has received an extra £2.4 million to fund an expansion of its service.
The expansion will mean the court can cover cases in the west and centre of Glasgow, as well as the south side of the city. The money has been awarded to Assist, the support service linked to the court.
To date, the court has dealt with some 3,000 cases. those cases referred to the court are assigned a date within six weeks of being called to trial.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill saidthe Government was committed to building on the success of the domestic abuse court and expanding it service to more victims.
