AEGON UK appoints Marion Glen
The insurance group AEGON UK has appointed Marian Glen, a senior corporate partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn, to the role of general counsel.
The newly created position within the AEGON UK group encompasses the role of company secretary and includes responsibility for AEGON’s legal team. Ms Glen will start her new role in January and will advise the executive on legal issues and corporate governance matters. She will also be AEGON’s principal liaison with the Financial Services Authority.
Ms Glen joined Shepherd and Wedderburn in 1994 from Linklaters in London and has held a number of key roles within the firm. She became a corporate finance partner in 1996, was appointed head of corporate finance in Glasgow in 1999 and then became head of the firm's funds and financial services group in 2002.
AEGON UK finance director Mark Laidlaw said: “Marian is recognised as one of Scotland’s leading corporate lawyers. Her broad experience within the financial sector and on a number of key transactions will be very valuable to AEGON and will add strength and vision to our legal team in an important new role.”
