16 January 2009

Shelagh McCall has been appointed as a part-time sheriff.

Ms McCall, 39, recently returned to Scotland following her appointment as a part-time commissioner with the Scottish Human Rights Commission and to return to practice at the bar. This followed a period as a senior lawyer with the United Nations in The Hague, representing the Office of the Prosecutor in cases before the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

She graduated from Edinburgh University in 1991, was admitted as a solicitor in 1993 and to the Faculty of Advocates in 2000.
