Pagan Osborne acquires Robson McLean

Legal, financial and property specialist Pagan Osborne has acquired the Edinburgh-based legal practice Robson McLean.

The deal, which sees the transfer of partners, staff and clients, was completed today and strengthens Pagan Osborne’s expertise in a range of personal and family business legal services.

Commenting on the acquisition, Alistair Morris, chief executive of Pagan Osborne, said: “We have made no secret of our ambition to build the firm through acquisition and Robson McLean presented us with an ideal opportunity. Its client base is a good strategic fit with our own, and the partners and staff transferring to Pagan Osborne give us a greater strength in depth in our private client services.

“At a time when everyone is focused on protecting what they have, we believe that this is the right move to secure our position in the professional marketplace.”

Neil Paterson, a partner at Robson McLean added: “Pagan Osborne shares the same professional philosophy, approach and values that we at Robson McLean have sought to demonstrate over its long history. As part of Pagan Osborne, we will be able to continue to offer our clients a full range of services but also the advantages that come from a larger specialist practice.”

All four Robson McLean partners will transfer, with one acting as a consultant following his recent retirement, along with eight staff. They will be based at Pagan Osborne’s Queen Street offices. Pagan Osborne now has nine partners and more than 100 staff across Edinburgh and Fife.
