Dumfries fiscal appointed

Andrew Richardson, principal procurator fiscal depute at Hamilton, has been appointed district procurator fiscal for Dumfries. He took up his new post this week, replacing Sineidin Corrins, who has moved to Glasgow.

Mr Richardson studied for degrees in computer science and law Strathclyde University before joining the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 1996. He worked in various offices before taking up his post in the Hamilton office in 2007.

His past work included drafting the national guidelines on the investigation of paedophile computer crime, and leading the investigation of Scotland's first Al-Qaeda terrorist case.

Announcing the appointment, the Lord Advocate, Elish Angiolini QC, said that Mr Richardson had “a track record of delivering services which are firmly focused on the needs of our local communities”.
