McClures strengthens disputes team as recession bites

Commercial law firm McClure Naismith LLP has strengthened its UK litigation and dispute resolution (LDR) team with a number of promotions at partner and associate level.

Rory Jackson, a specialist in serious and fatal accidents and health and safety incidents, has been appointed a partner in the firm’s Edinburgh office. A dual qualified solicitor, Mr Jackson trained with the firm and now advises insurance companies, companies and individuals in the defence, tactics and settlement of litigated claims.

Bryan de Verneuil-Smith and John Bett have respectively been promoted to associates in the London and Glasgow offices. They have extensive experience of court actions, mediation and negotiation across a wide range of issues and sectors, including commercial property, protection of intellectual property rights, contractual disputes and agency matters.

McClure Naismith’s LDR practice has 16 partners and associates and an extensive support team working in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“The new appointments reflect growing demand for specialist help and advice with litigation and dispute resolution. The recession has also driven demand, and it is unlikely to abate for a while” said Ewen Brown, Head of LDR at McClure Naismith. “Rory, Bryan and John have made an important contribution to our expansion and their promotion is well deserved.”
