Inverness gets new procurator fiscal
The Lord Advocate has appointed Emma Knox as district procurator fiscal for Inverness.
Ms Knox, who was full-time office bearer for the Procurator Fiscal Society, was previously head of victim policy in Crown Office.
Announcing the appointment the Lord Advocate, Elish Angiolini QC, said: “Emma Knox’s strengths in implementing change and improvement, new policies and procedures, are widely recognised by her colleagues. She has 15 years of valuable experience in a variety of roles within the service and will relish the challenges and opportunities that this new appointment brings.”
Emma Knox said that along with other agencies she would be addressing issues with known persistent offenders, tackling underage drinking and providing a "robust response" to breaches of bail and antisocial behaviour orders.
She added: “Inverness is piloting fiscal work orders, a new direct measure where offenders can be required to undertake 10 to 50 hours' unpaid work in the community. I hope to take full advantage of this to make offenders give something back to the community.”
