CBE for Bowen in New Year Honours
Sheriff Principal Edward Bowen QC of Lothian and Borders has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year's Honours list announced today.
The sheriff principal, who is currently also leading an inquiry into sheriff and jury trials in Scotland, has been cited for services to the aministration of justice in Scotland.
Among those also listed, Professor Alice Brown, formerly Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, also receives a CBE, while Gillian Thompson, formerly chief executive at the office of the Accountant in Bankruptcy, is made an OBE.
