Paull & Williamsons adds to oil and gas team

Aberdeen commercial law firm Paull & Williamsons has announced a senior appointment to its upstream oil and gas team.

Brian Hemming joins the firm as a partner from Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd. A highly respected oil and gas lawyer with nearly 20 years experience in the upstream business, he has participated in wider industry issues through the UK Operators Legal Committee, which he chaired from September 2007 to April 2009.

Mr Hemming’s appointment advances the firm’s strategy to expand its offering to the industry despite the difficult economic times, and follows the recruitment of employment specialists David Burnside and Tricia Walker.

Paull & Williamsons partner Bruce McLeod said: “We have built an upstream team that has commercial judgement and a detailed understanding of the breadth of issues faced in A&D transactions, with a good balance of senior in-house expertise and private practice corporate deal making.  We are looking forward to working with Brian to further develop our services to the industry.”
