Last chance to book a place at ABS and Legal Services Bill roadshows

There are only a few places left at the Law Society of Scotland's ABS and Legal Services (Scotland) Bill roadshows, the Society has advised.

More than 640 solicitors have already signed up to attend the free events at six cities and towns across Scotland next month, which begin on 2 March.

The Edinburgh roadshow (18 March) is already fully booked, with 200 people attending, but three seats are still available for the Glasgow event (4 March) and there are places at the Aberdeen (2 March), Inverness (9 March), Dundee (11 March) and Dumfries (16 March) roadshows.

The Society will deliver a short presentation about the bill, which is currently at stage 1, followed by a Q&A session to give members the opportunity to raise questions about the bill and how it may affect them in practice, as well as to discuss other issues and the Society's work.

Important

Ian Smart, President of the Law Society of Scotland, said: "This is a very important issue for the whole of the legal profession and I am delighted that there has been such a great response from solicitors wanting to attend these roadshows.

“There has been much discussion about the bill and the prospect of alternative business structures in Scotland and I would hope that the roadshows provide another opportunity, particularly for those who may not have been very involved previously, to find out more about the details of the bill and to fully debate not only the challenges, but the opportunities that the proposals in the bill present to solicitors."
