North-east firms to merge

A four-year association between two north-east legal practices has culminated in their merger.

Kinnear & Falconer of Stonehaven is to become a division of Aberdeen firm James & George Collie, trading under its present name.

For the past four years Collies have done all the Stonehaven pactice's back office work for them.

Graham Garden, one of Kinnear & Falconer's two partners, becoms a partner in Collies and will manage the Stonehaven office. The other partner, Denis Daun, becomes a consultant to the enlarged firm.

Tony Dawson, senior partner of James & George Collie, said he was "absolutely delighted" with the merger, which follows the recent acquisition of Aberdeen firm Churchill & Co. He commented: "This is the latest in a series of mergers and acquisitions which have seen the firm continue to expand in a time of recession."
