Twelve entries from across the professions take up "Halfway" event

Twelve teams of lawyers, engineers, architects and bankers are gearing up for the Tods Murray "Halfway
Hospice Challenge" next month to secure funds for the St Columba's and Prince and Princess of Wales hospices.

Setting out on 18 March, the teams will cycle from the Falkirk Wheel on a journey heading either to the centre of Edinburgh or Glasgow along the designated cycle paths adjacent to the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals.

The event is the final push in a fundraising campaign organised by Tods Murray that has also involved a silent auction, raffles, supermarket bag packing and money raising lunches and nights out, including a BAFTA Film Awards night and a race night. The two hospices are the firm's "charities of the year".

Ashlie Turner, who spearheads the Tods Murray charity committee, said: "Both hospices require a great deal of support in order to provide the quality of care that they do and I am delighted by the enthusiasm of the competitors in our challenge to help us raise vital funds.

"This is so much more than a traditional sponsored cycle and I am very impressed with everyone's imaginative approach to fundraising."
