Solicitors and investment managers Turcan Connell have seen members of their staff honoured in two different competitions.
Associate solicitor Tom Duguid today receives the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ (STEP) President's Prize for Qualified Practitioner Student of the Year in Taxation. The prize is awarded each year to the three best qualified practitioner thesis essays submitted to STEP from throughout the UK. The award will be presented at a gala lunch in London.
Mr Duguid specialises in private client and charity work, with a particular focus on the use of onshore and offshore trusts, companies, partnerships and other structures as part of wealth planning. He also advises on art and heritage sale transactions and loan arrangements.
At a separate event in Edinburgh recently, members of Turcan Connell’s financial planning team, Dr Norman Dalgleish and Joanne Keir, picked up the top awards at the Insurance Society of Edinburgh Awards 2010, based on examination results.
Joanne Keir, manager of the firm's Family Office, collected the Standard Life Shield for her achievements at Advanced Diploma level, and financial planner Dr Norman Dalgleish, who won the shield two years ago, collected the President's Quaich for attaining the Fellowship of the Personal Finance Society.
