Irwin Mitchell takes rehabilitation prize

8 July 2010

Glasgow law firm Irwin Mitchell has won for the third year running the award for “Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Claimant Solicitor", in the awards hosted by the insurance industry’s publication "Post Magazine".

Announced at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall, London, the awards highlight the pioneering efforts of businesses and people supporting the role of rehabilitation for anyone who has been severely injured.

The case in point featured a 22-year-old graduate with a promising career as a computer software developer, who sustained life-threatening injuries when his car cut out on the motorway and was hit from behind by another vehicle.

Irwin Mitchell co-ordinated a comprehensive rehabilitation programme that significantly helped his recovery. After a year in hospital he returned to live with his parents, but further rehabilitation and support has enabled him to move into his own home. He is now able to enjoy a wide range of social and leisure activities in the community.

Elaine Russell, partner at the firm’s Glasgow office said: "Rehabilitation is at the forefront of everything we do for our clients – we all strive to ensure they receive the very best levels of care and rehabilitation. The work we do helps victims and their families rebuild their lives from serious injury and, in many cases, funds a lifetime of future care and support and enables them to have the best possible quality of life”.
