Lloyds denies planning restrictions to Scots conveyancing panel

30 July 2010

Plans by Lloyds Banking Group to review its residential conveyancing panel, removing firms that have a low volume of business, will apply in England & Wales only, the Group has confirmed to the Law Society of Scotland.

After the news was announced on the Law Society of England & Wales' website, Bruce Ritchie of the Scottish Society contacted the Group, which includes HBOS and the Halifax, asking for urgent clarification of the position in Scotland, which would have had very significant implications for Scottish solicitors.

In reply the Group confirmed that the review policy will apply in England & Wales only, "and we do appreciate that there are different considerations in Scotland and Northern Ireland".
