Society elects new board member
The Law Society of Scotland has elected a new board member in Ian Bryce, a partner at Central Criminal Lawyers, Livingston.
Mr Bryce has been a member of the Society’s Council for four years and is also a member of the Society’s Legal Aid Committee and negotiation team.
He becomes one of the four Council members elected to the 12-strong board, which also comprises the four office bearers (President, vice president, treasurer and immediate past President), the chief executive and three group conveners.
The Board has responsibility for day-to-day decisions of the Society, which are then presented to the policy-making Council, which remains the ultimate decision-ratification body.
Jamie Millar, President of the Society, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ian to the board. Ian has been an active member since he joined Council in 2006. He has done a tremendous amount of work as part of the Legal Aid negotiating team, most recently in relation to the Society’s negotiations with Crown Office and Scottish Legal Aid Board on police station interviews following the Cadder appeal.
