Brodies wins two associates – and employer title

Scots legal firm Brodies has boosted its technology and banking offerings with the arrival of two associates from major London and international firms, as the firm also celebrates winning a national award.

Victoria Moore joins the Technology, Information and Outsourcing Group from Bird and Bird LLP in London. She will be involved in a broad range of projects, with a particular focus on IT contracts and intellectual property law. She has experience on both sides of the border, in sectors that include financial services, technology and media, data ownership and licensing and the heavy industries such as manufacturing and engineering, and has also spent time as an in-house counsel.

Euan McIntosh, who joins the Banking and Financial Services Department has eight years' experience in banking law, primarily with international firm Allen & Overy LLP, where he was a senior associate in the Global Loans Department. With Brodies he will work predominantly on general banking, corporate lending and leveraged finance.

"Best Legal Employer" award

Brodies has also been named "Best Legal Employer 2010" by Legal Week magazine, in its annual employee satisfaction survey. Conducted independently and confidentially across top 100 UK law firms (including US firms in the UK) by Legal Week Intelligence, the survey ranked Brodies no 1 out of all the firms featured – with "by far the highest score in the whole survey". This is the first time Brodies has appeared in the survey.

The Employee Satisfaction Survey gives an overview of the UK legal profession from an employee’s perspective, specifically at associate level. It measures a wide range of work-related and personal criteria, in 36 categories spanning professional life, the firm's management, salary and career development, and, by carefully weighting the findings, benchmarks the firm against the other top 100 firms. The firm was particularly singled out as highly rated in several categories including quality of work, quality of clients, collegiality and firm-wide culture, career development and equal opportunities, including flexible working arrangements.

“We are delighted with the results and to be ranked number one in the UK”, said Brodies' managing partner, Bill Drummond. "What's particularly pleasing is that the survey highlights what everyone in the firm has worked for many years to build and maintain – the high quality of our client work, of our people and our strong collegiate culture."
