Society embarks on inter-profession networking
The Law Society of Scotland is teaming up with bodies from a range of professions in an innovative event aimed at learning from the experience and skills of others.
"Networking Beyond the Norm", to be held on 16 February, will involve the Society coming together with 16 other professional bodies to develop contacts and learn new skills.
The speaker at the event, Hamish Taylor, is the former head of brands at British Airways and chief executive officer of both Eurostar and Sainsbury’s Bank. He is also the founder of the Skills Exchange Network, a management and leadership development organisation.
Delegates will hear that the principle of inter-profession networking has successfully been used by the airline industry, which developed queuing systems pioneered by Disney and introduced flat beds on planes by working with a yacht designer.
The Society’s Director of Representation and Professional Support, Neil Stevenson, said: “In the modern business world, networking is key to success. But if you only network with peers from your own profession, you could be missing out.
“This pan-professional networking event is all about bringing together members from a range of professional and business bodies. My advice is that if you want a breakthrough – look outside your current environment.”
