Freeman to join Judicial Appointments Board
Jeane Freeman, founder and former chief executive of the criminal justice employment organisation, Apex Scotland, is to be a new non-legal member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.
A senior consultant in public policy and government specialising in public policy advice to private and public sector organisations, Ms Freeman was chief executive at Apex for 12 years. For four years she was a senior special adviser in Jack McConnell's administration. Ms Freeman is also a member of the Parole Board (ending on 31 December 2011), and the Scottish Police Services Authority. and is chair of the National Waiting Time Centre Board.
The appointment, announced today by Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, recognises her experience around the justice system and appointment processes for senior people. It runs for four years from 1 November 2011 to 31 October 2015, with a time commitment of 20-30 days a year.
