Law student fined for gangmaster offence
A law student and a company of which she was director have been fined for offences under the Gangmasters Act.
Jannicke Andersson (22) and PPS Scotland Ltd pleaded guilty at Aberdeen Sheriff Court to supplying workers to a fish processing factory without a licence.
The court was told that the company had been formed after Andersson's mother had got into debt with the tax authorities and did not apply to renew the licence for the separate company she ran. Customers were not told of the change and a licence had been applied for, but the authority became suspicious that a scheme was being set up.
Andersson was fined £300 and the company £1,000.
