Win for Journal editor at Scottish Magazine Awards

The Journal's editor, Peter Nicholson, was last night named Business & Professional Magazine Editor of the Year at the Scottish Magazine Awards 2012.
Mr Nicholson was selected by the nine-judge panel, chaired by publishing consultant David McMurray, ahead of five other shortlisted candidates, Alasdair Fletcher of The Scottish Farmer, Kenny Kemp of BQ Magazine, Mandy Rhodes of Holyrood, William Peakin of Connect (another Holyrood Communications title), and Sharon McCord of RIAS Quarterly.
The judging criteria included "the editorial flair to communicate at all levels with the business or professional sector the publication seeks to serve"; "total subject and readership knowledge";; and "ability to innovate and energise issues relevant to sector", as well as quality of writing and design.
Mr Nicholson previously won the award in 2010.
Connect Communications, which produces the Journal for the Law Society of Scotland, also won three other categories: Staff magazine (Pulse, for NHS Scotland) Feature writer (Richard Croasdale), and Brand extension (Scottish Dental exhibition).
"It was an amazing night for us all", Mr Nicholson commented. "I am deeply honoured to have been chosen against such strong competition."
