MMS hires pensions partner

12 December 2012

Pensions lawyer David Knox is to join Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS) on 1 January as partner in charge of its UK pension law team, the firm announced today.

Mr Knox, who will be based in the firm’s London and Edinburgh offices, was formerly with Dundas & Wilson in Edinburgh, where he led the pensions practice for more than seven years. A keen amateur skydiver, he was previously a major in the Royal Marines Reserve.

The news comes in the wake of the announcement last week of two partner promotions, Stuart Fitzsimmons in banking & finance – who is also relocating to Aberdeen – and Alan Eccles, a charities specialist in the private client team, working from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Another move to Aberdeen is that of corporate partner David McGrory, who specialises in private equity, acting for both investors and fundraising companies.

MMS chief executive Chris Smylie commented: “We are firmly on a growth footing and I am particularly encouraged by the performance and success of the Aberdeen office."
