2 May 2013

Law firm HBJ Gateley has appointed a new partner, Sarah McKinlay, as head of its private client practice.

Ms McKinlay joins from Morton Fraser and will lead HBJ Gateley’s succession planning, asset protection and capital tax mitigation areas, and also take responsibility for the firm’s broader private client offering. She has also previously worked for Turcan Connell, after training with Shepherd & Wedderburn.

She has particular specialities in the use of tax efficient wills, trust creation and management, inheritance tax strategies, pension benefits and planning, as well as expertise in the administration of executries, and incapacity issues. She has also tutored at the University of Edinburgh and is a regular conference speaker.

Malcolm McPherson, senior partner of HBJ Gateley, said: “Sarah comes with an excellent reputation and we all look forward to working with her. As someone who has demonstrated real ambition, determination, and commitment, she fits our firm very well and she will be a terrific addition to the business.”
