Glasgow Conveyancers Forum holds first AGM
The Glasgow Conveyancers Forum has a new management committee following its first annual general meeting, held this week.
A constitution adopted at the meeting formalises the structure of the GCF, superseding the steering committee which has run the body to date. It is based on the model of rthe longer established Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum.
The management committee comprises Paul Carnan of Blaney Carnan, Ian Ferguson of Mtchells Roberton, Martin Bernan of Carr Bernan and Mike Samuel of Miller Samuel.
After the formal business, the AGM heard a presentation on mortgages for professionals and on auto-enrolment for pensions from sponsors Wesleyan for Lawyers, and on "The Future of Conveyancing" by Ross McKay, chair of the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum, which included his work on the Law Society of Scotland's Review of Conveyancing Practice.
The next meeting of the GCF is on Wednesday 26 February 2014, when the CPD topic will be “Rectification of Title”. Ian Ferguson has asked, after a certain clash of events this week, “Can someone please check the fixture list to confirm that we are not clashing with any other European football fixtures?” Not involving Scottish clubs anyway, Ian.
