Information evening to be held for Lawscot Foundation

9 February 2017

An information evening about the Law Society of Scotland's charity to help those in need of support to enter the legal profession is to be held later this month.

The Lawscot Foundation has been set up to help academically talented students from less advantaged backgrounds through their legal education. This means offering financial assistance, mentoring and other support during the law degree stage and through the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.

Anyone interested in taking an active role, whether as a donor, a mentor, a fundraiser or a corporate sponsor, is invited to an information evening on Tuesday 21 February, from 6-8pm at the Law Society of Scotland’s offices in Edinburgh.

Eilidh Wiseman, President of the Law Society of Scotland and Lindsey Jack, director of The Student Experience and Equality & Diversity Co-ordinator at Edinburgh University will be the key speakers, providing more information about the charity, the role of volunteer mentors, what the Foundation is trying to achieve and the variety of ways of playing an active role in the charity's growth. Light refreshments will be offered.
