Family and child law expert John Fotheringham has joined Morton Fraser as a consultant, the firm announced today. Additionally, Jennifer Thomson has been appointed as a senior associate in the firm's litigation practice.
Mr Fotheringham, previously with Shoosmiths, was the first solicitor in Scotland to hold double accreditation in both child and family law. He is vice convener of the Law Society of Scotland’s Family Law Committee, the general editor of the Butterworth Family Law Service and also co-author of the third and fourth editions of Green’s Family Law. He also lectures occasionally at the University of Edinburgh. Most recently he was at Shoosmiths.
Ms Thomson joins Morton Fraser after 11 years at Clyde & Co. She will focus primarily on personal injury claims, as well as regulatory cases and other civil litigation claims. She has extensive experience of acting on behalf of insurer and self-insured clients, and holds a Masters in Advocacy from the University of Strathclyde.
Chris Harte, chief executive of Morton Fraser commented: “We’re an independent firm that prides ourselves on giving clear advice to our clients. As such, legal talent is our lifeblood. Attracting such talent in the form of both John and Jennifer bolsters the breadth and depth of expertise we provide.”
