Harrington succeeds Brown as BLM senior partner
National insurance risk and commercial law firm BLM has elected Matthew Harrington as its new senior partner, for a three year term from 1 March 2018.
Mr Harrington, who joined BLM in 2007, set up the firm's offices in Cardiff and Bristol before joining the senior leadership team in 2014, when he became a member of its partnership board.
He succeeds Mike Brown, who moves to a new role as head of Risk and Compliance after six years as senior partner. Last July BLM appointed Vivienne Williams as managing partner.
BLM has more than 200 partners and 1,600 staff in 13 offices across the UK, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, and generates turnover exceeding £100m.
Over the next three years Mr Harrington will lead the firm’s strategy, focusing on risk and insurance and supporting ongoing diversification through its new Commercial Advisory & Private Wealth offering. He will also work with the firm’s Technovate steering group to increase IT innovation.
He commented: “My vision is to continue our ambition of being a market leading firm operating in risk and insurance in the UK and Ireland with an international reach, together with a strong non-insurance capability to offer to a wider client base. We have so much opportunity and I’m keen to work with colleagues to take advantage of our growing capabilities. I am looking forward to taking up the role in March, and I have already been working closely with Mike and Vivienne to prepare for the next three years ahead.”
