Law Librarian of the Year is Scottish Government employee
A Scottish Government information professional has been named top law librarian by the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) at its annual Awards Ceremony.
Roddy Waldhem of the Scottish Legal Information Centre in the Scottish Government Legal Directorate received the BIALL Wildy Law Librarian of the Year 2019 award at the BIALL Annual Conference Dinner at the Hilton, Bournemouth on Friday evening.
The BIALL awards recognise the high levels of service and professional commitment achieved by individuals and services working within the legal information/law library sector, reflect the accomplishments of individuals working within the profession while also recognising the team commitment of entire library and information services. BIALL also presents awards to publishers and suppliers in respect of good customer relations practice and for high standards of publishing.
Presenting the award, BIALL President Dunstan Speight said: "Roddy is a worthy recipient of this award. He has had an illustrious career as a legal information professional working in commercial libraries and then later in government libraries. He has also made a sterling contribution to the wider Scottish library profession. He is a former convener of the Scottish Law Librarians Group and continues to present seminars for them. He is Head of Profession for Librarians and Information Scientists in the Scottish Government and has overseen an increase in its membership by fostering greater collaboration among government libraries and agencies. He is, in addition, a trustee and member of the Scottish Council for Law Reporting."
